Garden of Linda and Claude Greeson
Burlington, NC

Greeson Garden Linda and Claude Greeson have created a lovely garden where all the senses are pleased. Soft bark pathways ramble past large and small beds of a thousand named daylilies, hosta, and roses. Along the pathways Angel's Trumpets spend their heavy perfume, roses and clematis climb over two cedar arches to add their sweet scents, and the musky scents of Asiatic and Oriental lilies and the sharp tang of pine trees complete this garden's potpourri. Gentle wind chimes and the burble of the fountain at the koi pool add their pleasing sounds.

Daylily beds fill the garden from house to workshop and spill under the towering pines at the back where hosta beds shade from the sun. One interesting feature of the Greeson's garden is the "gourd house", a bent cedar frame covered by gourd vines each summer. Next to this shady "playhouse" for the grandchildren, is a bed of 23+ Candies including FANCIFUL CANDY, SUNGOLD CANDY, LICORICE CANDY, and one of Linda's favorites - CUSTARD CANDY. Of interest also is a Biblical theme bed with CLOTHED IN GLORY, MOSES FIRE and other similarly named cvs; the Church Lady bed (ask Linda about this bed); a bed of miniature hems, and a spider and Unusual Form bed with SKINWALKER, ROYAL CELEBRATION, FRILLY BLISS, OAKALOMA KICKING BIRD, LURCH and JUDGE ROY BEAN being some of Linda's favorites.

The Greeson's garden has many double daylilies to display, look for KING KAHUNA, MORNING VICTORY, DENALI, and DOUBLE CINNAMAN SUNSET. Some of Linda's other favorites include: SABINE BAUER, SO MANY STARS, WILD HORSES, INDIAN RIPPLE, CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, and ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK.

Some of the guest plants that are scattered throughout the garden are: CAPE ROMAIN HARBOUR, PICK OF THE LITTER, REGAL AFTERNOON, MOTHER'S DREAM, MY HEART'S IN DIXIE, and ADMIRAL'S MAGIC by Charles Douglas; MARY ALICE STOKES by Dan Hansen; CHINESE MOUNTAIN and FOOTPRINTS by Otis Houston; HAPPY GIRL and JACKIE BLUE by E. Scott of Florida; David Kirchhoff's APRICOT PIZZAZ and SAN LUIS IMPERIAL by Mort Morss. KAMA SUTRA and ADVENTURE IN PARADISE, both by Curt Hanson, are club plants being grown by Linda.

Linda and Claude Greeson's garden is a favorite in their neighborhood and visitors are frequent.
