Our holiday party at the home of Arwood and Bob Ginn on December 28 was well attended. The food was great and I think everyone enjoyed our present swap.

Our first meeting of 2008 will be February 28.

Thu - Feb 28		SANDHILLS: Paul Owen's Hybridizing Program Paul will do a PowerPoint presentation showing us how he selects his plants for registration. Paul has several lines going and there should be something everyone will enjoy
Thu - Mar 27		SANDHILLS: Ed Zahler's Hybridizing program Ed has been hybridizing for a long time and already has quite a few beautiful cultivars. It will be good to see what he has for the future.
Thu - Apr 24 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Terry Baucum and Jennifer Prowe Terry and Jennifer are both artists and their talents show in their garden and in the plants Terry has registered.
Thu - May 22 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Roger Mercer No title yet, but Roger's programs are always interesting.
Sat - Jun 14		Sandhills Daylily Club Show This AHS show will be held at Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton, NC. Entries will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Judging starts at 11:00 a.m.

Thu - Jul 24 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Charles Douglas of Browns Ferry Charles will present his hybridizing program along with those of his wife, Heidi, and his friend Gene Tanner.
Thu - Aug 28 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Peggy and Jim Jeffcoat Peggy and Jim will present their hybridizing programs and share how they grow plants so well at their beautiful garden, Singing Oakes.
Fri - Sep 19 -- Sat - Sep 20		Fall Regional Meeting - hosted by the Mid-Carolina Daylily Society
Mon - Sep 22 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Cindy Dye Cindy will present her hybridizing program and show us her beautiful garden. Cindy has a great eye for garden design.
Thu - Oct 23 6:00 PM		SANDHILLS: Jim Massey Jim Massey will show us his hybridizing program and also talk about garden whimsey. Jim has great examples of whimsey in his garden and also has at his garden a museum of Southern Folk Art.

Meeting Information

Meetings are on 4th Thursday of the Month from February - October (often we skip June since we do the show in early June) and are usually held at Friendship Baptist Church 3232 Davis St. Hope Mills, NC

Come early for the meal(6:00 p.m.); program starts about 6:45.

Membership

We have members who drive regularly from as far as Lumberton and Red Springs to the South and Dunn and Erwin to the North. We invite anyone within driving distance to join us. We are a very low key, informal group. Dues are only $10 a year.

Club Projects

The Bettie Jernigan Daylily Garden at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden is our major club project.

An AHS sanctioned show and sale are held at Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton each June.

We often have a club tour on the Sunday after the show.
